Delegate Information

The Legislative Assembly is where the voice of the world's Young People is heard. This gathering considers, writes and votes on legislation to be brought before the United Methodist Church's top body - General Conference - or to the official body responsible for Young People in the Church - Young People's Ministries.

Participation in the Assembly is limited to elected delegates. This ensures fair and equitable representation from all areas of the church, and the world.

Delegates will be selected in 2009 at each of the Jurisdicational Youth Convocations (in the US) or by Central Conference Youth or Young Adult organizations (outside the US).

Any youth, young adult or adult worker with young people can submit legislation for consideration. Legislation is due by December 31, 2009. Read the Legislative Guidelines for more details.

Who Gets To Be A Delegate?

Five youth (ages 12-18) will be selected from each US Jurisdiction and Central Conference Youth Organization.

Five young adults will be selected from each US Jurisdiction and each Central Conference.

Two adult workers with young people from each US Jurisdiction and two youth and young adult workers from each Central Conference will be selected.
